If you are looking to use your spare Mac as a server, extra storage or to give to a family member or friend and know they might struggle to use it sometimes. You may have considered downloading either Remote Desktop for Mac or OSX server. But, wait, there is no need. If your needs are simple there is a simple solution built into your current Mac.
First, on the Mac you will be using as the server/other options; open system preferences. You should see this screen:
Now, Choose the Sharing option, where I have circled. You should be taken to this screen:
The first circle is your options that you should select; Screen and remote login. The larger circle is where you need to yourself as a user and give yourself permission to control this Mac. Just click on the little plus sign near the bottom.
